I wouldn't beat yourself up over it Ocean - from the sound of it they seemed to be in perfect health when you left, so whether it was an underlying issue or a problem with the carer, I don't think you can blame yourself too much.
Adrian is a very good vet - he really cares about the birds he's seeing and although he's a bit expensive it's worth every cent. Make sure you talk to him about everything - diet, toys, cages - anything under the sun that you want to know a bit more about.
I'm glad Jackie is looking a bit better, and good luck with her.

Is it possible they may have had an underlying disease which you weren't aware of when you purchased them? Were they wormed? Also, as Courtney has said, birds hide their sicknesses well (naturally being prey) perhaps it was beginning to get a bit thin without any obvious signs. I am soo sad for you!! Adrian is a great guy, you should see him. Also one of the vets I work with is an avian vet at Alderly Enoggera Vet Practice. 3356 3330

I'm so sorry to hear about Sam but it's good that Jackie has picked up. I'd still take her for a checkup though. Hopefully Adrian can find out why Sam died but it is possible that the cause won't be found.
