I am going to build i nice 3 X 3m arched top (3.8m high at middle) planted aviary. Its going to be based on an Temperate Forest theme much like the Bushland in the Adelaide Hills and in and around victoria. I am planning to have Ferns, Grevilia (sp), LillpyPilly and some grasses, Since my whole yard in concrete i am going to have the aviary raised off the ground 30cm probably by railway sleepers. Species list is as follows
Red Browed Finch (2pr) Diamond Firetail (1pr) Double Barred Finch (1pr) Superb Blue Wrens (Trio) White-eyes (2 pr) Purple Crowned Lorikeet (1pr)
I am looking for a ground birds aswell, and would like to consider a pigeon that will continue this theme, I am even getting some Gum Tree Trunks make it look like there are big trees in it.

I have just recieved a great school report, so in about 2 weeks i should have the aviary, then i am going to put my COckatiels, Budgies and Zebra Finches in it, thsi will etst it out, then i will sell off these birds as soon as i have saved enough to buy the birds i want, I may also not get double barrs and get another pair of diamonds or green winged pigeons

sounds good, I do not know much about finches, but I do remember having some many years ago and they were very territorial during breeding season...........that might be worth considering when putting finches with cockatiels and budgies. John might be able to put more light on this one.
