Well it has finally happened!!
End of last season I decided I wanted more pied's in my zeb finches so I selectively bought in a few rather stunning pieds and at the same time culled out a lot of birds that I didn't think would help with the colouring.
Anyway I sort of digress....today a nest inspection shows a very nice little fawn pied that seems to be beautifully marked!!
Will post pics as soon as my mate brings the camera over.

Thanks guys.....is very exciting!! As only managed 1 pied baby last season and I lost that one, shame as it was bloody stunning. Oh well this season is shaping up well so far as I have another nest with babies in it that I am going to have to climb up and check out tomorrow. Amazing thing is I haven't even put nests in yet...darn things are building their own from scratch LOL.

Yay they have fledged, well 4 days ago they left the nest but I wanted to be sure they were going to be ok. The pied is stunning...it's actually almost a saddleback so am very very happy with that....even happier that I have 3 with that great gene. Tried getting pics the other day but the little beggars wouldn't sit still long enough so I haven't a chance in hell now unless I oput them in a carry cage, which is not going to happen as their aviary is about 10ft high and they have to many places to hide ROFLMAO

I have finally worked out who the father is of my new pied....now to find the mother so I can try and do it again, not n easy thing to do in an aviary full of them LOL. Have babies everywhere now....all darn finches tho LOL. New masked doves laid and sat for a few days than abandoned the eggs and both chicks were half developed!! Ohh well at least I know they are fertile.
