it is now the 6th consecutive day of 100+ temperature here and it looks like there is another week of it to come, according to the long range forecast( weathermen are like politicians though - known to lie lol). with most of my birds sitting at present I'm worried that the heat may kill any fertile eggs. has anyone had extreme heat problems with their birds that are sitting on eggs. I know that there isnt much I can do about the situation, just wondering what sort of outcome I should expect

fingers crossed all is well and that it ends good. I would be trying to wet the floor and the wire of the aviaries just to try to keep them cool. I know with water restrictions and all...........but hey............i would do it just to try to keep my birds more comfortable and hopefully not to stress them so much.

What i do with my finches is give them a really big water dish on th ground (well they always have a big one) they will go down to it soak their feather and go back to the nest to cool the eggs, i have found my finchese were always nutty around sprinklers (Gouldians, Stars, Parsons, Hecks and emblemas) And with mostr being arid finches they prefer the water bowl method its like a tiny billabong!
