I have a question regarding blue in parrots, eg scarlet chested, red rump. Does it behave as a regular recessive colour as in blue in ringnecks? I guess it must be different as there are parblue scarlets. Is there parblue in red rumps? Thanks again!

Blue Red Rumps are being bred with cinnamon, Lutino, Pied, Platinum and Opaline. The Blue Mutation in Red Rumps is recessive.
Blue bred with Lutino will give you Albino with black eyed yellow it will produce white.
So the answer to your question is that the Blue in Red Rumps is recessive.
Hpe this helps

Hi Jms Parblue and Blue are two different genes but are very similar when doing calculations Blue can be substituted for Parblue and in Red Rumps there are recognised forms of Parblue .Both genes are recessive and are also alleles for the same locus,so even though they are recessive Parblue is Dominant to Blue and recessive to Normal. Pastelface in Cockatiels is an incorrect term for Parblue but somehow the name Pastelface seemed more appropiate and has stuck with breeders.Parblue is a name given to a gene that is Partially Blue and has some brilliant results when combined with Opaline and Pied cheers Frank

The Blue when combined with the Cinnamon Red Rump is also a stunning bird. Some breeders are calling this bird a Silver but that is not a true name as they are blue and Fawn in colour without any trace of silver. To my knowledge there have been no Silver Red Rumps bred at this time.
