Hi Honeyandthebees, if you are looking to get skyblues, then here is an example of what you may get. Blue/cinnamon male which just means he is split & carrying the cinnamon gene to say a Gray hen, then the babies will be male babies: Blue/Cinnamon, Blue, Grey/Cinnamon, Grey female babies: Grey, Blue, Sky Blue, Silver. There are so many different combinations that you could use, but it would depend what you are looking for color wise in babies & obviously what the male is visually & what splits he is carrying & what the female is visually & whatever split she may carry. I am only new to ringnecks but I am trying very hard to learn the genetics of them but it is not one of the easiest things to get my head around. Perhaps Frank will be able to confirm the above example Cheers Anna

Hi not sure 100%on the Skyblue factor Anna as i tend to think that your mating chart will only produce split blues but a Grey split blue hen will then give you a Blue- Cinnamon hen here is the mating results of
Lutino Cock X Grey Hen
Cocks Grey(sf) green /Lutino Green /Lutino Hens Grey(sf)Lutino Lutino
Grey Cock X Lutino hen Grey(sf) green /ino Green /ino Hens Grey(sf) green Green remember this is only accurate if the grey hen or cock is singlefactor cheers Frank

I'm puzzled Frank, the lutino cock bird and the grey hen combination, is that grey(sf) lutino hen that results from this pairing? what is a grey lutino, is it visually lutino masking grey?

hello kim the grey factor in the lutino is masked, the result is the babies just look like lutinos. because the lutino dilutes all the green feathers and turns them to yellow it does the same thing with the grey factor and you can not tell the difference. and because the birds are only single factor greygeen lutino you will have to test breed them all to determine whether they are carrying the grey gene or not.

I've heared of this before and wondered what they meant, does that mean that if the lutino hen masking grey is paired with say a green/ blue/ino cock would give blue, grey, greygreen, albino and lutino visually colouerd offspring ?

As for the sky blue, my sisters grey/cinnamon cock and blue hen produced 2 greys, a blue a skyblue the first clutch and a grey and silver second clutch, so wouldn't Annas combination of blue/cinnamon cock and grey hen produce simular results?

hello kim thats correct if the lutino babies were carrying the greygreen gene 50% of there offspring would carry the grey green gene also. that means you would get greygreens greys and greygreen lutions and lutino geys. the problem is you would have to test breed all your original lutino hen birds to find out which ones are carrying the greygreen factor because you can not visually see it. the same thing goes for the greygreen lutino and grey lutino babies you won`t know if they have the grey factor as well.

Hi not sure 100%on the Skyblue factor Anna as i tend to think that your mating chart will only produce split blues but a Grey split blue hen will then give you a Blue- Cinnamon hen here is the mating results of A Grey is a Greygreen Blue and is a dominant mutation, so therefore, you cannot have a Grey/Blue. Easiest way to get Skyblue is Blue/Cinnamon Cock x Blue Hen: Blue Cocks Blue/Cinnamon Cocks Blue Hens Cinnamon Blue Hens
