Today I want to make you a genetic question. How is new born if I cross an opaline parakeet (rose, but I don't know sex) that has yelow leathers(plumas) on wings, tail and upper body with a wildtype bourke? I don't ask about cross it with 'normal' opaline rose because I saw some photos from a clutch and new born had also yelow leathers. ( sorry now I don't find a photo of a bourkie like I described but I'm sure you know what color I'm discibing.

Oh Sorry Luisa I read this yeaterday and meant to answer then got busy and forgot once I got home. Are the yellow feathers getting into a cream bourke? I'm sure that in this pairing the normal will dominate, unless the normal is split for opaline too. I will write myself a note to look in my genetics book tonight for the yellow feathering and update this for you. (will add to note I'm supposed to find a home for a cockatoo also will do another thread about that :

Don't worry Jane, I don't have a photo but here you have one that look like the one in the pet store www.thebirdforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6657the one in the pet store had more yelow and pink was little more light and also had more yellow feather. I'm going to try to get a photo from the bourke, but I'm not sure if I'm going to can.

Luisa, I think that think yellow wings appear on the Pink bourkes. Pink is different to Rosa, rosa is an opaline as you already know. Pink has been developed by crossing rosa (opaline) with cream (advanced cinnamon). As for the offspring when crossed with a normal bourke, I can't find sorry, I can say that if its similar to opaline x normal the offspring will be visually normal unless the opaline is the cock in which case the young hens will be opaline. Sorry I couldn't be more help

That's enough Jane, Thanks, reason those one have yellow on the wings is clear. And also for this: "Pink is different to Rosa, rosa is an opaline as you already know. Pink has been developed by crossing rosa (opaline) with cream (advanced cinnamon). " So I can guess crossing with wildtype won't result a diferent color than wildetype or opaline (may be this one with yelow on wings) That's all I wanted to know ( I was very happy because I was going to descober a NEW COLOR ( ) can you believe? I thought I was going to discover black water.

Thanks for that link Luisa, that is very definfed yellow on that Bourke I have a few rosa and some pink bourkes and one normal, but not any with the yellow. Have you seen a photo of the lutino? They are really very pretty. I don't know if we have any in Australia, I've read that the lutino bourke is well established in Europe.

returning to bourke's colors.
Can you put me a Pink and an opaline Bourke I know they are not the same but I dont't identify them. And also I was thinking is its possible to return to lunito's color making inbreed. I know it's not the better way but if I don't have any other option?
And If I cross opaline with rose what I'm going to have?
