Certainly do Frank and lately there seems to be of it than usual! I have just checked the babies and eggs again and #4 and #5 are pipping away! Looks like one of the 3 chicks will be a cinnamon pastelface as the eyes are certainly plum coloured compared to the other 2. It will so exciting watching their pins start as I really have no idea what is hidden beneath that yellow down! Jo-Anne

I think it was on the other forum where i mentioned your Pastelface Cock. His genetics should read Pastelface split whiteface not split to both ::)cheers Frank

I was under the impression...and am probably wrong!....that seeing he wasn't 'Double Factor'( for want of a better term) for pastelface that it would be written split pastelface and whiteface signifying he only carried one of each. If he was pastelface then he couldn't be split to whiteface as well........please correct me if I am wrong. I think i wrote pied split to pastelface and whiteface. I know visually i write pastelface but genetically I usually write the former. Jo-Anne

The other way around Jo-anne
If he is whiteface, he can't be split to pastleface.
A Pastelface can be split to whiteface (single factor). WF and PF occupy the same gene and PF is dominant.

Hi Jo .If a tiel is visual Pastelface then it is a Pastelface which is Recessive, but because Pastelface is Dominant to Whiteface then every Single factor Pastelface born will be split Wface, a Double factor Pastelface cannot be split to Wface, so your cock's genetics (with one the chicks is looking like cinnamon) would read Pastelface/Whiteface/Pied/Cinnamon and i have a hunch you can throw in Pearl but we will have to wait and see on that one. ::)cheers Frank

Thanks for that Frank.....Ok so at the risk of sounding dumb here any visual pastelface bird is described as pastelface and by the prescence or absence of saying split whiteface that will denotes if it is single factor or not. ...is that correct? The cinnamon baby if it is a hen will be split to wf and pied and possibly pearl but if a male it will be split to pied pearl whiteface and lutino!.....quite a concoction really! Jo-Anne

Claire after rereading what I wrote I see I didn't write double factor when I said about a pastelface couldn't be split to whiteface...ooops!!!Sorry about that! I do know about the genetic inheritance it is just the correct way to write it that had me a bit confused! Thanks for your response.

Love talking to you you are spot-on.I hope you end up with a male Pastelface because of the split to Lutino factor, when this guy goes on and breeds for you he will breed Pastelface Lutino Pearl hens absolutely stunning birds :)cheers Frank

Well I now have 6 babies hatched...still waiting for that yellow on Tuesday LOL As a nice surprise the one that hatched last night was yellow too so I have 4 yellow and 2 white now with 2 eggs to go. I think only 1 egg may still be viable but as it was looking abit crowded I have moved those remaining 2 under my forster pair who have eggs and 1 chick. I am surprised at the new chick...he would have hatched early this morning and at 6am was up on his feet and begging like crazy for breakfast. The chicks seem so strong.....and they are all getting well fed so I figured I wouldn't push my luck with anymore and 6 chicks were enough for any birds to handle. This has been the most exciting clutch of babies I have ever had and now I can't wait to see them start to feather up to find out what colours they are! Jo-Anne

Well thanks to all for thinking yellow. I ended up with 4 yellow and 2 white so can't complain about that. The remaining 3 eggs were 2 DIS at very early development and 1 unfertile. A good end result for a first time dad and a mum that has only had 2 fertile clutches from 3. All babies are being very well fed and taken care of and all 6 are still with mum and dad. I had considered fostering 1 or 2 to another pair but seeing they were doing such a good job I didn't interfere. 4 chicks now have their eyes open and 1 is definately looking ike a cinnamon pasteface. Not sure on the rest but I will let you know as they start to feather out more. Jo-Anne ;D
