I know that I have read in a few past post about checking eggs for fertility, and that you check them with a good torch and that, but can I get a few more good points to what I’m looking for to see if they are fertile or not, when the eggs are only a few day old I have a new female that is on eggs already, I don’t think she has had time to bond with her new partner of one week, I no that all the other pairs are bonded and sitting on nests, but there is one male that may be doing overtime ;D If the 4 eggs are infertile do I let her sit for a while or should I take them away! Hi Debs,
If you are using a torch to check the eggs..wait 10 days. You will see red veins where the yolk is....that is from when she started to sit on them...Yes you can take them out if you like. But I would just leave for a bit to make shore they are not fertlie...

If they have been together for a week then there is every possible chance the eggs are fertile as it only takes a couple of days however that is only the case if he has mated with her.Let her go for now eggs will show fertility after 4 days tight incubation using the strong light method cheers Frank
