Hi everyone i want to know about breeding cockatiels i think my sisters tiel is a male he/she has started to sing, whistle, and chirp and sqauwk louder then angel and this could also be the reason why angel wants to be with stardust all the time. Now chances are they are male and female what are there chances of raising young. If they do breed and have young i will pull them for hand rearing at 10days old. At what age would be best to breed them. Are we better off putting them in the same cage now and let them bond and go wild so to say. will it be best to put them in an avairy or will it be ok in my sisters cage it is fairly big.

I wouldnt pull the babies for h/r at such a early age...You need to have a lot of exspence in h/r to take on young guys like that...They will still be ok to take at 3 weeks old..which would be a bit better for you to start wih..There is so much that can go wrong with h/r if you dont no what you are doing..You realy need to do a lot of home work..and ask a lot of questions before taking this on...

Yes Sun Conure I agree with Natalie! there is a lot to learn in h/rearing and also breeding. Also to successfully breed you need to house aviaries where natural sunlight is available or at least have available full spectrum lighting for indoor breeding, and then it becomes a question of whether 2 H/R birds will breed successsfully and like Natalie says if all comes to fruition it will pay pull chicks at a later stage rather than earlier and then you might have 4-5 screaming chicks if that's what you want? cheers Frank
