I am breeding a pair of cockatiels now the hen is a Clear Cinn, Pied Pastelface/Whiteface and the male is a Clear Whiteface Grey Pied. Is that a good mating or is better to breed 2 Pastelfaces together.

Hi Petiel That is fine ! Pastelface carry factors depending on how many genes was given to the bird we have Single factor (most common in Aust) and Double Factor! Pface/Wface is single factor and when paired to a Wface as you have the breeding results are 50% Pface and 50%Wface ;D Your pairing will produce Grey Pieds in both varieties(not neccessarily clear) unless the male carries other genetics ;)cheers Frank

No hard and fast rules on clear pieds but it does help when the parents are heavily marked. The young Pearl would have to be a hen!cheers Frank
