Hey guys,
When from the 'Scratching around the nestbox' stage and male 'dancing' for want of a better word (not sure if hes feeding her yet) stages do ringnecks breed and lay? its really early i would have thought at least another month or so away that they would be starting this, but the female is spending alot/most of her day inside the nestbox sorting out the pine shavings inside and when out of the box the male spends all his time displaying.
Cheers,
Rach

Hey Rach, I am new to ringnecks as well, so i don't know what your weather is like there but just let them go for it & see what happens. Sounds like they are getting ready though. You never know you might have babies sooner than what you thought. My pair are sitting on the nest box, but I haven't opened it up yet as it is getting mighter cold here in Adelaide. Gets down to 5 degrees over night & lower so too scared to let then breed yet as I have lost babies before to the cold weather here. Cheers Anna

lol Anna she fooled me yesturday!! she sat ALL day and last night without coming out of her nest box and i got allllllll excited but she came out this morning laughing im sure thinking 'i got yah!' lmao
and yeah the only reason i have everthing set up already is because they r actually inside the house with us (farrrrrrrr to many cats, dogs and other things harrassing them and they were getting so stressed it wasnt funny) so its alot warmer than outside, possible hence what seems an early start i hope? ;D

Lol Rach, I bet she was laughing at you. I can understand about having them inside with cats & dogs. The only thing I would recommend is make sure they have access to full spectrum light because if not it can lead to the poor female getting egg bound. this is an article I found very interesting about it. Have a read & see what you think. Cheers Anna business.fortunecity.com/johns/139/index5.html

Awesome reading Anna, really helpful, i have them infront of a huge lounge window so i hope everything will be ok, id hate to know if something happened it was my fault i talked to the other half after reading it and come summer we will build something big for them outside now we have moved, as u said its darn cold at nights so dont think it would be wise after 7 months of being inside to throw em out in the cold lol..... Thanks heaps frank, tis early than most would start but im sure u would know what it was like with ya first ever babies..ya cant waittt!!! lmao guess its the woman coming out in me?..we want and we want now! am very excited i must admit and have learnt so much already from you all since joining the forum and am very thankful ;D Cheers Rach
