Hi To All I am wanting to ask a couple of question about ringnecks.. Just curious to hear what others do.... How old do you pull babies out of the nest to handraise? What do you use to feed your babies? How often do they need to be feed? Approx how much do they need to be feed (mL) through syringe? How do you house your babies once pulled from the nest, meaning what sort of heating/bedding ect.....? This information will be 100% appreciated.... ;)Thanks In Advance

Hello honeyandthebee welcome to the forum sorry for not responding sooner but here we go
i haven't done many ringnecks but they say it is best to pull the babies at around 2 weeks
me personally i use a syringe feeding times at 14 days there feed 4 times a day 7am 12 pm 5pm 11pm till 25 days then it is 3 feeds 7 3 11 till 34 days old then it is 2 feeds 7am and 7 pm at 45 days one feed a day at 7 pm
feeding amounts at 14 days 7 to 10 ml at 25 days 11 to 15 ml from 45 days to wean 15 ml
housing some people use heat mats me personally i use a brooder as i find it easier to control the temperature
temp 14 days 30-32 degrees 22 days 28-29 degrees 29 days 24-27 degrees 36 days till wean 21-26 degrees
hope this helps regards bill

Hi Honeyanyand thebees, I have h/raised a few ringnecks & agree with Bill, especially in the fact about taking them from 2 weeks onwards just as they are about to open their eyes. I have h/raised at 4 weeks & at that age me personally have found that they can be quite difficult to h/raise & they seem to distruss you, making it harder to have as a good h/reared pet. Like Bill I prefer to use a brooder or heat box. If you are a beginner in h/rearing might I suggest a bent spoon as it takes experience to use a syringe re chocking factor if you do it too quickly. I find myself that they don't really develope a personality till the reach the age of 6 months but then they are fantastic birds although a bit noisy at times inside. They can make wonderful h/reared pets but are subject to a mister hyde mr jeckle personality. One day sweet as pie the next little buggers biting ears, but that is from my own personal experience as I have 3 pet ringnecks of my own but I wouldn't part with them. Regards Anna
