I am just starting to breed my budgies,
(Yes, Anna, you were right about them being agressive!).
I have 3 pair in the aviary with 5 boxes and there is this one bird who is an absolute cow. She took 4 days to decide which box she wanted but she still won't let either of the other females in any of the other boxes.
When I got home from work today my hubby said that he had to take her (and her boy budgie friend) out of the aviary as she had attacked another boy budgie.
We've put the 'bad' budgies in a separate large cage with a breeding box in there and left the others in the aviary.
The budgie she attacked looks like he's almost had his eye pecked out and he's not standing properly on one foot. I put some betadine on it (as suggested by Anna, thanks) and will keep an eye on him.
Gosh, I've had a fairly crappy week so far with losing Fluffy on Monday and now this. Hopefully things will settle down now that I've removed the agressor from the aviary, I just hope that somebody else doesn't step in to take her place :-(

I would have to say that is one of the reasons why I gave most of my breeding budgies away to a good friend. I just couldn't handle the aggressiveness of some of the female budgies & what they can do. You did the right thing taking the culprit out though as I have found myself that the aggressive ones don't seem to settle down much & have even gone in & killed another ones babies, even though you think she has chosen a nest box. Sorry to hear that you again have had a crappy week & I hope your other male will be all right. Just keep applying the betadine for a couple more days & that will stop any infection. I think you will find that your other pairs will settle down now. I only have 2 breeding pairs of budgies now & they are both in separate aviary's now. Hope all goes well for you. Cheers Anna
