ok so you are going to incubate them not let them hatch under a chook.

Yep...Polish very very rarely go broody,so an incubator or a clucky hen is my only other option. As I can't rely on a hen going clucky every 3 weeks than an incubator is my only way of ensuring babies. Although Belgian's do go broody (currently have one sitting on a mix of polish and belgian eggs) I just can't rely on a hen being broody when I need her too. Besides an incubator will increase my hatch hugely and I can stop incubating whenever I need too. I do preefer hen hatched babies but I take the babies away from the hen at a day or 2 old anyway as it helps get the hen back into shape and laying again after sitting on her bum for 3 weeks.

Well Stephen actually bought the steel for the frame work to the aviary. I cannot believe that hopefully by the end of the month I will have aviaries. Two anyway. Woohoo. I will be ringing Shrekie and Skye's breeder in the next couple of days to see if he has any "males" for my girls or if he knows of someone with a couple of nice healthy big boys for my "girls".

I have 2 baby Cockatiels hatched to different parents. I think maybe the Burkes have hatched. One baby was dead up the other end of the box, but they are both sitting tight. So far only my old reliable budgie has eggs, she breeds every year. My Crimsons aren't doing anything which is a bit disappointing. The Red Rumps haven't done anything either yet.

Good to hear he is still going good. Have you had to seperate the male? As I heard they can become agressive to the babies or something once hatched?

Canary men are actually really great parents and mostly will continue to feed the babies after the hen has gone back and started laying again and she wants nothing to do with the babies. All my boys have been exceptional dads. No canary babes for me though yet as I just don't want any till after I move.

Well my breeding season is in full swing. My four pairs of Alexandrine's have all laid and I am currently feeding 6 babies and 2 pairs are sitting again. My ringnecks have just hatched out their second clutch and I have just finished handfeeding 2 of their first clutch. My greencheeks have hatched out 6 babies and I am feeding 3 now.

You are doing well, so far I still have my 2 sets of cockatiels with another one sitting. Two baby Burkes and a budgie sitting on eggs. Does anyone have Red Rumps laying eggs yet, mine aren't. My budgies are very slow as well, usually they are first.

My budgies are at full pace at the moment. I have 9 pair in the aviary and 6 hens have at least 3 babies each. Another 2 hens are on eggs!My old faithful green girl is raising 6 babies and they are all doing fine. i think they will start comming out of the nest within the next few days. My ringnecks are sitting on 4 eggs that should start hatching in around 5 days and my 'tiels are sitting on 6 eggs (again) the were sitting on 4 yearler but i took them because they were all clear. i even have a clucky old silky chook who has decided to sit on 6 eggs. she wen up into the hay shed to lay them so i couldnt find them. i decided to let her sit on them but i bought her back down to the house and put her in a cage so she wouldnt become fox food. it has me wondering how she hasnt already! the only thing around here without eggs or babies is my dog hervey, but he is going to spend time at his girlfriend's place when she comes on heat again spring has certainly sprung here at "The Park" LOL
