Hi Bill, With the teil chicks, first off do you know how to crop feed chicks if so my vet told me for slow crop to use a mix of 100% pineapple juice and warm water mixed 50/50%. that is if you could fit any in their crop.
I've never had that problem myself. If i think of anything else i'll let you know.

bill,
Is there crop just full of seed. You can give them some paraffon oil that will help if there is a blockage...What I do when I take ones for rasiing.and they have a lot of seed in there crops but not to much liquid. Is to given them warm water and just gental massage the water in..Once they have been warmed up there crops should start to move again..Good luck Bill..

Bill, Like Natalie said .. it could be that their crops are just full of seed. The parents can pack in the seed pretty fully. Reading from the chat room you said you've already flushed the crop. You may not have need to do this. If it was packed full of seed it would take about 12hrs to be passed through to the stomach. I would have waited and seen if the food goes through. You may not have a problem here, so be careful not to stress the chicks out too much. I would have left the chicks over night, keeping them warm and see if their crops clear overnight. You can then begin feeding them a watery formula and gradually make it thicker over the next few days. Adding apple and/or probiotic as suggested on chat. (ppl in chat also just suggested giving electrolytes ) Poor babies .. good on you for helping them out. I hope they do ok. Best wishes, Claire

Proven method for slow crop, is to feed only a mix of probiotic, spark(electrolytes) and warm water untill the crop is completely empty, gently massage the crop every 2 hrs and when the crop is empty give a bit of nilstat 10 minutes before feeding a watery mix of handraiseing mix and probiotic and spark, each feed gradually add more handraiseing mix over 24 hours untill it reaches the normal consistancy add nilstat to each feed for 3 days. Never feed formular on a crop that still has more than 25 % in it, thats asking for trouble. This has always worked for me and between my babies and my sisters babies we had slow crop galore this season untill we did this no more problems now. Works for me anyway, hope it helps others.
