At our club meeting last night it was revealled that there is a problem with a shipment of Red Panicium that has come into WA from NSW.
The seeds are rotten and people have been noticing deaths in many of their finches, in particular the African finches as these are very fond of panicum. The seeds look to have a fungus problem, possibly aspergillis.
Keepers in all areas should be aware of the problem as the effected seed may have also been shipped to other areas.
