Has anyone fed their birds oranges. My bird book says they like them so yesterday I cut one in half and gave it to them. They were very funny to watch, they all came down for a bite and then vigorously wiped their beaks on their perches. They obviously don't like them.

Hi Laraine they tend to go for it more in summer and I use it as a natural worming remedy citrus has a great capacity for controling worm infestation but I only give it to them once a fortnight. Lemons seem to be more of a favourite! cheers Frank

My Rainbow Lorikeet loves a bit of orange but i have found that the budgies don't touch it. I must admit I haven't tried it with the cockatiels but i used to have a pair of Alex's that would devour it and then look for more.

John John be very careful giving your Lorrie orange's they do bring the colours out in them but due to the acid in them ,to many oranges will kill them. lorries can not get pass out the acid and it will sit in the stomach and rot them ,i found out the hard way and it was only from an autopsy i found out. cheers Steve

My ringnecks & rosella's love oranges & mandarins. I only give it to them about once a week & only a small amount due to the acid content. My tiels don't like it though. Cheers Anna

So far the two halves that I put into their cages on Sunday are still sitting there untouched. Maybe its an acquired taste. Steve, I don't think I'll have a problem with the Rainbows, they hated it, which is probably just as well.
