I am currently hand feeding 2 Alexandrines and was wondering if anyone here has hand raised Alexandrines.. They are now 6 weeks of age and I just wanted to know what other variety of food do you recommend feeding them at this age.... How many feeds per day and amounts also... Just thought I'd ask what others do, as other people do different things and I'd like to hear other ideas.. I am giving them RoudyBush about 30mls twice a day each and also they get a nibble on some apples and other vegy's that I try on them but they seem to have a roll around in the mouth then spit it out...I have also heard that hulled sunflower kernals are ideal for then, has anyone else heard this?? I was taking to a guy and he said he fed his baby Alex's peas...What sort of peas would this be would you know? The fresh peas in the pods or ? Would I just get some and take them out of the pods and let them have a taste? Love to hear what other variety people feed theirs..

If you give the peas, pods and all and let the bird shell them it will benefit the bird and teach it feeding skills.

Hi John If I give the birds the pod and all to shell, I'm afraid they'll just sit there and look at them Maybe they are not old enough for that maybe. What other foods would you recommend ? Would you recommend adding anything to the Roudy Bush at all when I'm feeding them through a syringe?

No leave the rowdy bush as it is at the moment, but Alex's are pretty smart and what I would do is show them how to open the pod, don't sell them short they are very intelligent birds. Try a small section of corn Cobb, give them a piece of apple they love to hold things in their claws.

My Alex's are older but I give them the frozen peas & corn mix and they love it, from the freezer section of the supermarket and I put it in warm water for a while then drain it and give it to them. Mine also love corn on the cob but the babies might be a bit little yet for that. They love celery stalks and crusty grain bread. Also last but not least Arrowroot biscuits but not to often just as a treat. Hope this helps.

Hi, have you tried sprouted seed for them yet? I know that my tiels & ringnecks love them when they get to the weaning stage. I first offer some in my hand then put some in the cage. Doesn't take them long to discover that they are really good to eat & soft too. Just a thought. Cheers Anna

Thanks for this information. They are doing really well and putting on weight and all. I got some peas in the pods and they wont even try to open them but they do eat the insides. They are way different to ringnecks and they are very adorable too! I just hope I can part with them

Also, would I need to clip their wings or ? I don't keep them in a cage at all I keep them in a heated glass tank filled with shavings.. I'd hate to wake one morning and there gone
