I have a collection of birds that overall i have been told that peachface mix will do the trick but i have noticed the red rumps not that fussy on it.
Types of birds together: cockatiels/Burke's scarlet neophema/cockatiels/diamond dove then all in separate cages: red rumps...more cockatiels...and loris...budgies
I feed the budgies ...budgie mix ...(no big feat) The red rumps; peach face all the others peach-face but i add finch food for the neophemas loris...well they are special anyway
my friend says she uses budgie and grey sunflower for her birds (cock & red Rumps) as there is no waste...what are your recommendations given that i would prefer to have one or two basic mixes for all...
I have heard that it is ok to add some canary too:
what proportions do you think best for all concerned (the birds ..that is)

I think I need to re-word my request...to put it simply can you tell me what seed is best for each of these birds. Pet shops say peachface as an allrounder but i want the expert opinion.
red rumps scarlet chested neophema normal burkes cockatiels diamond dove

Peachface.... well what I've seen is too much wheat and sunflower for my taste. I'd go a small parrot mix which only has a little bit of sunflower seed and lots of mixed small seeds in it. That's the better mix for the neophemas and red rumps. If you want a pic of it let me know OK

The question of seed to feed mixed birds has always been an interesting subject and to be honest I think it will always remain so. My own thoughts on the matter are these, I keep budgies, cockatiels, red rumps, love birds and princess parrots all breeding pairs, I buy a good quality budgie mix in 20kg bags along with 5 kilos of white striped sunflower seed, 5 kg of hulled oats and 5 kg of plain canary seed, I then mix budgie mix with 25% plain canary seed 10% hulled oats and 5% white striped sunflower seed all by volume I increase the volume of sunflower seed in winter.
I find that peach face mix is too high in sunflower content and there are some seeds that the birds don't eat. This mix that I make up seems to satisfy all the birds but be careful and don't give them too much sunflower as they will pick it out and ignore the rest.
Not all my birds are housed in the same aviary and I find that i can feed my budgies the budgie mix and the rest of the birds the stuff i mix my self it works well for me and all my birds are healthy.

I feed my mixed aviary, which consists of budgies, cockatiels, scarlets, turks, rosellas, ringnecks and burke parrots, peachface mix. At this time of year I add 10% hulled oats. The only ones who waste it are the rosellas, as they go through it for the sunflower seeds and throw all the other out. Devils.

Hulled oats...is that the winter warmer like "uncle Toby's" ....I am given the small parrot mix. Does that have the oats in it already?

Small Parrot mix usually has too much roasted corn in it and not much hulled oats. I find by mixing it myself I can regulate the amount of sunflower seed and the oats they get. Hulled oats are good at this time of the year as they are very high in vitamin value and low in fat.

Time will tell. It seems is all very experimental. Of course if I had them all seperate I would have no problems. WHAT A GREAT EXCUSE TO GET SOME MORE AVAIRIES BUILT!!!!
I WISH

That's why I like the peachface mix, I find it is small enough to suit all the birds, but also has sunflower seeds for my larger parrots, but no corn. There is a small amount of hulled oats in it, but for winter I like to add more.
