am wondering how many of you if any feed green seeds to your birds. I have just started doing it and my finches love it, I guess its what they would find most of in the wild and would be a staple of their diet. the breeding pairs eat it more than anything else that I provide even more than mealworms & maggots. have started to grow my own and when there is enough ready am planning to freeze it so that I can have it on hand all year round

I do give mine green seed too ....... it sprouts up in the garden and I pick it for the birds. They love it. At the moment it is growing also in the aviaries but the ekkies and alex's don't go to ground (well mine don't anyway) so I will pick it and put it up higher for them.

I never thought about giving birds green seed until I read about it just the other day (can't remember where). After I read it I thought "Daaah of course" Am thinking of using the waste seed in a section of the garden if the sparrows, and crested pigeon leave it alone lol

I seem to always have green seed around. When I rake out the chook pens their stuff goes on 1 particular garden and it just keeps coming through. You can also throw some seed on a patch of lawn and not mow it. I did that not long ago and ended up with baby corn on the cob for the aviary bids LOL
