I was out taking pics of my birds yesterday and came inside shaking my head. I vow and declare to never ever try and guess the genetics of a platinum tiel again! I took about 5 pics all of different mutation platinums and was amazed at the difference. What got me most was the fact that the platino whitface was so much darker than the platinum whiteface. See for yourself! Jo-Anne

Hmmm What can i say you'd swear the 2 were vice a versa. But you also have to remember how many different shades of Cinnamon and how many different types of Pearl etc etc all part of the game and if you understand your genetics at least the bird can be Identified! :)Is there an age difference as males will get darker until 3yrs old (cOnsidreably darker) Frank

That may be the answer Frank. the platinum is 14 months and the platino is about 3 yrs. By the same token though I have a 6 month old platinum wf that is as dark as the platino in the pic. It is very confusing. Thanks for helping sort that out. Jo-Anne

Hi Jo-Anne this is a good example of confusion! If you look at the Whiteface Pied on the right you would almost be confident to call her a Cinnamon but in fact is Platinum! and the left photo shows a Patelface Platinum Pied then look closely and you can see the similarities but the white hen on her own looks Cinnamon Hmmm

This hen is the same as the one you were talking about. Wen she is with a wf cinn and wf plat she is somewhere in the middle colour range yet I know she is 100%platinum. Jo-Anne
