Hi, Well i was sold this bird as a blue opaline and not knowing any better, i thought it was. However someone has now told me that blue opalines have white heads, therefore he is just a plain blue. Is this correct?

I'm afraid so, it isnt a blue Opaline but a blue male, however he is a nice looking bird. Did the person that sold it too you say how old it was? it only looks a young bird to me.

She said it was a couple of years old.
How old is old for small birds like this?

A couple of years old is perfect breeding age. Red Rumps have a life span comparable with Cockatiels if that were my bird I would be looking for a Lutino hen to mate him with you will get Albino's with that pairing. I have the perfect hen just waiting for a mate like that ;D

Ah, very interesting.
As i have not yet found him a hen i have decided to look at selling him or swapping for something else.
If you were interested in him you could let me know.
