i just weighed him he weighs in at 82grams which is heavy since angel was 76grams when i got her but males and females weigh differently.i'm very impressed with the breeder of this guy he eats anything i put in his cage.I can tell his going to be a big boy and a good parent when the time comes. My dad turns around and says how many birds do you want. I think everyone is right i said i was only going to have the 2 birds and now look i have 4 going on 5 at the end of march.I'm thinking of naming this boy rebal or spike.

Hi SunConure i dont want to alarm you but at 8weeks old there is very little chance of sexing pieds! males wont start to do their thing intil at least 3-4mths old, so for your sake even though it's a nice bird I hope it's a male! cheers Frank

even if i'm re thinking of breeding them as i don't want to chance them not being friendly with me. for now there in the same cage. I will probably get another cage for the pied in april or may.

Cute bird there! It won't be long now and he/she will be letting you know what sex they are. Most of my pieds are whistling their heads off by 8 - 9 weeks old and when you get 5 or 6 together it is a continual competition to see who whistles loudest and longest. If it doesn't start whistling it is no guarantee it is a hen mind you. But we all know boys will be boys and once he starts he will be telling the world! Jo-Anne

Thanks everyone but i'm starting to think the pied is a hen he/she is very quiet doesn't chirp or sqauwk much at all but it could be that his young too. I still think my sisters tiel is a male cause of how loud it is.My sisters tiel does the whistle that guys do to hot chicks,Mimics the phone and makes all sort of sqawks and other whistles. But the thing that makes me susspect the pied to be male is by the size of the head and its sqaure and flat where angels is rounded. But i guess only time will tell.If the pied is a female i will be keeping her but my dad we not allow me to get another one. When i have some money i will probably get the pied DNA sexed to find out. I'm calling him a he for now until i find out other wize. His very friendly and cuddly loves his food specially fruit and veggies i love him dearly. I am so happy i decided to give cockatiels another go cause if i didn't i wouldn't end up with such beautiful and friendly birds like angel and rebal.7 hours of him being home when i got him he was already allowing me to sratch his head. To tell you the truth i ask the breeder if he had been fed fruit and vegies and she said she hadn't tryed him on them yet. As soon as i put him in the cage he went straight to the fruit and veggies.I'm so proud of baby and his such a cutie. My dad has warmed up to him already not bad for a guy that said "i'm bloody sick of this" when i got him.Like i say once a parrot lover always a parrot lover.Anyway your probably sick of me talking now so better be off now bye.
