.....I melt Unfortunately what the camera doesn't pick up is her stamping her feet before she jumps up to try and get the container of mealworms. She has also been known to attack feet to get your attention when she wants more . What really melts my heart though is when she starts chirping and you look down at her and she looks at you so attentively, asking with her look for more worms. I'm the biggest sucker out there! Nothing stops this girl from eating her worms!! Here she is being locked up for the night.

She was a laying machine but I think she is getting too old now. She only lays one every couple of weeks now which had me worried. Everyday there would be a present for us! I have (thank goodness) blown some of her eggs a long time ago and sprayed the shells with clear laquer to preserve them. It always broke my heart to throw out her eggs, but I could never have eaten them

I know that it may have been difficult for many to fathom eating eggs, but millions of people all around the world do it. :-) When i used to have the quails, I'd have them hard boiled or made into scotch eggs...hmm, delicious.
I now have duck eggs which are laid every day...lovely!! :-)

i must admit i prefer them made into an omlett myself regards bill Definitely omlette with the duck eggs, but a tad on the small side with the quail eggs. I must admit that a hard boiled quail egg with a touch of salt and butter...or a dab of dijon mustard and mayonnaise. hmm...i'm salivating just thinking of them now. I know that this must sound terrible to some, but there's really nothing better tasting than eggs your very own poultry produce - especially free ranged eggs.
