hello all well they are getting bigger and more self surficiant as well here they are starting to pearch as well as use there wing so it wont be long and they will be flying around can someone tell my what is the difference between the beak colours please as with the younger ones i have one that has started to turn from black to brown and the other is solid black and the out side birds i have three with a coral red beaks and one that is orange is that an indercator that there is something wrong or is it to do with male and female any ideas thanks for the help regards bill

beuatifull birds bill they look like little characters i have reared alot of lorikeets and ive seen the ebaks all change at difefrent times on different birds i have never actually questioned why this is so but i just put it down to them all being different like we are so i wouldnt worry they are fine but if anyone has any ideas on why it happens it would be interesting to know

Yes Bill, their beaks change to orange or coral collour as they mature so you'll notice the babies changing as they get older. With the older ones it can vary in colour some are almost red and others stay orange no cause for concern just how they are. I guess it's a bit like the feathers some have more red than others especially in the rainbows. They look great, my third clutch for the year is due this weekend hope they are OK, think I'll take the nest box out for a while. Randy little buggars they are!!!
