Ok i kNow in NSW you need a permit for them, in SA you dont, in WA it is illegal to keep native mmamals as pets (stupid rule). I believe they are on permit in QLD Aswell, SA is the best for permits 1 permit covers Birds, Mammals and Reptiles

dunnarts and hopping mice are totally different things, i keep both of them, Dunnarts are carnivorous marsupials(dasurids) and hopping mice are a native mouse (Notmys)

Hopping mice are sooo cute. I was thinking about getting some here. How would they go in an outside enclosure because I was at one point going to get some to put in a rainwater tank cut in half that I still have. I think its great you don't need a lisense to keep spinifex hopping mice here in SA.

we have about 300 at the property now. and they are all outside in Mt barker, so you can keep them out side, i may be coming up to renmark soon if that makes pick up easier for you.

That would make pick up easier because I don't think we are going to Adelaide for a while now because my mum and dad just went to Adelaide yesterday.
