Howdy Bird Lovers,
My name is Shawn, I live west of Sydney, I’ve had a passion for animals/birds all my life, Well as long as I can remember, As a kid I was always bring some sort of animal home, I look back now and remember some of expressions on my mothers face (Of Horror). I remember it was winter time, And I notice my Blue Tongue Lizard was getting a bit sluggish so I stuck him in my mums waterbed to keep him warm, I must have dozed off on the lounge, I remember waking up to one mighty big SCREAM and here was my mother in the corner of her room trammelling …. Arrr those were the days,
Seriously,,,,, In my early teens I had bred or owned Finches, Java, Doves, Canaries, Budgies, Bourke, Turks and Cockatiels, I sort of had a mixed aviary collection. I also had Fancy Pigeons for a while there.
Then I got my chooks Chinese Silkies and Peking Bantams, I started to show them and was doing quiet well with them, Until I had to get rid of them due to the neighbours started complaining about the rooster’s crowing, ( Cockadoodledoo)
The last couple of years, I have been breeding Lovebirds (Peachface and Masked), I mainly breed pieds with different colour mutations in the Peachface variety, In Masked I breed Normal, Dilute Normal, Blue, Dilute Blue and Violet factor Masked.
In the last year I have just started working on Cockatiels, I plan to specialize in Aussie Platinum’s in normal, whiteface and Pastelface. I also have a variety of other colours. I hope I can get my stock up to standard to eventually show them.
Ummm, I share my house with my 2 pet birds Alexandria (Charlie) and Grey~Green Red Collar Lorikeet (Lory) who are the best of buddies and try to out do one another vocally……
Amongst having the birds I also show dogs for the pass 12+ years,
The other thing I like doing is bird watching, mainly watching parrots species in there native habitat,
