Hi, my daughter and I are proudly owned and trained by a pied tiel, named Cheeky. She adopted us 2.5 years ago and has been an important member of our family. She is a free flyer as with so many wild birds outside I could never cage one.Our home is safe for her to do so.she spends alot of time interacting with me.I so enjoy her company. At the moment she is sitting on an egg and I am wrapt that it is only one this time.Maybe this will be her last go.I hope and pray, as we miss her.She may not be much of a noise maker, but does enjoy wolf whistling and has a crazy alarm call.We accidently taught her to pick her nose LOL after clearing her beak of a feather,by using the end of a molted one of hers,as I did not want to use a foreign body.Blow me down we were in fits of laughter when we saw her claw in her nose.May I say it is great having a site that relates to Aussie ways, especially the wild/native foods and you can relate to any slang used. Thankyou so much to all those involved. Regards Pauline.

Hi Pauline and a huge welcome to you, your family and Cheeky. As a breeder and lover of everything Cockatiel I must say that nose picking has to be by far the most bizarre story I have ever heard and coming from me that means something lol!!I didn,t quite get what you were trying to say regarding the one egg with hopes and prayers but I'm very sure you will love around here as we have a great bunch of Aviculturist here cheers Frank. ;D

Cheek's eggs are infertile and knowing how much work, love and committment goes into her egg laying, for no reward, it is such ashame. My daughter calls them love eggs, as Cheek has no other reason to lay them lol. Hope that is a little clearer.Thanks.
