Hiya All, My name is Rach, im from New Zealand. I found this site while one late night searching for info on Ringnecks. I am VERY new (and really have no idea) to breeding Ringnecks. My partner started by buying me my first green ringneck as a pressie...his names Jewey (names after my partners mum who seems to sound the same after a while of listening to them both lol) This christmas he brought me a breeding pair of Lutino Ringnecks which r beautiful and have breed once before by no other information could be given as he got them through a pet shop so i am kinda flying blind and am just hoping they breed again atm, gawd i couldnt even tell u when they breed thats how new i am to all this lol, altho they seem every friendly towards eachother and spend alot of time grooming and coeing at each other. I found this site so wonderful and friendly to read hence i registered as a member and look forward to meeting u all in the near future ) take care

Hi Rach, A very big welcome. Hope you enjoy it here, lots of great friendly people only too willing to share advise & help out with any problems. Like you I am new to ringnecks but I am slowly learning more & more about them. I have one breeding pair that have not yet had eggs for me but hopefully this year. I also have 4 h/rears at the moment but looking to sell 3 of them soon. They do make good companions if you have the time for them. I never get tired of watching my Indian in his/her cage. Very entertaining & lots of fun. Cheers Anna

Hi Rach firstly welcome to Aussie ANZAC Friendly Forum hehe, and secondly well done on the photo. We all here seem to have the same opinion about pet shops but not too sound too negative first-up I hope those buggers haven't sold you a related pair as every time you see two of a kind in a pet shop be very wary! Are they handreared birds?cheers

Hiya Frank, I have wondered the same thing also lol and no they arent h/r which is a shame.... i male isnt to bad he will come for a look at u if u walk up to him...but the female lol she goes nuts and screams and carries on. We actually went to the pet shop for food dishes believe it or not and ended up spending over $700 lmao (i shouldnt be allowed to shop i swear) When we got there i saw the pair and fell in love and when we asked about them they had been dropped off by someone, so not knowing there history may not be that good, but they did say they had breed before as a pair....but not been able to provide info on them may not be a good point also i guess...one thing i did notice is that there actually eye colour looks black? i thought they were red? i brought this pair for $270 (which seems very cheap here for pairs) i know breeders here sell h/r lutinos for around $240-$270 and h/r blues for approx $300 ....the breeder i got my beautiful Jewey from cost me $70 so prices here seem more expensive than aussie. Thanks for the welcome

Hi Rach, ringies get you hooked don't they? I have 12 handraised and a couple of pairs I adore every one of them, Lutino's do have red eyes, if they have black eyes the are much more expensive, and your two will breed in the second half of the year sometime, mine breed from July on but I think it is a bit later where you are, you'll get all the advice you need here a great bunch of people with loads of answers and experience.

I have 3 blues, I found them all to be alittle more tempermental than the greens when they where young but they are wonderfull now, I also have an albino, 3 lutinos, 2 greens a grey 2 cinnamon and a blue whos dad was half alexandrine, they are all handraised and thankfully I have a hubby and 4 kids to help play with them all, they each have their own personalities and are all loved, I could have sold them heaps of time as people often drop in and ask if they are for sale, but how could I choose to sell any one of them?
