Hi everyone. I live in Brisbane and i have a whiteface male tiel who is very naughty I have bred Tiels. My last breeding pair went to the lovely PollyParrot as my family was to go on holidays for a few weeks and i had no choice but to sell up which broke my heart but i couldn't be happier about where they went to live. A year or two down the track i decided to get another Tiel (just the one, as a pet) and yet again PollyParrot came to the rescue and told me she had a gorgeous whiteface baby for me, which i took home and hand reared. The was around 7 months ago. I had considered breeding again but i have moved house since i bred Tiels last time and where we live there are alot of Gonana's, owls, wild dogs and other nasties that would love to get there teeth into some little fluffy birds, so i thought maybe just the one inside pet this time round. You tend to face a whole lot more different problems with a pet Tiel comparred to a breeder Aaaaah well, what can i say, it's an addiction ;D ;D ;D Anyways i better go Cheers for now Blossey

Hi Blossey, a very big welcome to this great forum. What a shame you are not able to breed tiels at the moment. Pet tiels can be such a challenge, especially the males but in the end they are worth it. When I sell my h/reared babys everyone wants a male coz they can whistle & talk & I try to tell them of the problems they can have when they hit the hormonal stage, but they don't listen . Oh well me personally I would have sooky females tiels like me but somehow I always end up with the males . Great to have you here & looking forward to talking to you. Cheers Anna

Hi Blossey, another big hello from me too ;D so you only have the one tiel so far hey LOL.....mmmmmmmm wonder how long it will before its two.....I started with one pet tiel, then a friend wanted to get rid of the pair they had, well to cut a long story short, I know have an aviary full, and I have nine pets fids indoors ( i have a hard time giving away my babies).......and I can tell you just like Anna said, I love my boy fids they talk and chatter and carrie on something bad but my girl fids are the most sookiest of all and would rather spend all day getting cuddles PMSL....I suppose when you ready for that second tiel Polly will be there to help you out LOL looking forward to chatting with you more ;D Deb

Thank you all for your warm welcomes. I may end up with more birdies after all, as all the bushland out the back of my place is being bulldozed as i speak Got a notice in the mail a cpl of days ago. I am soooo angry though because the bush is teaming with koala's possums, goanna's and all sorts of gorgeous bird life, mostly the reason i fell in love with the place, but now all the wildlife is either dead or left their homes so i might not need to contend with them for the safety of my birds. It's a win/win, lose/lose situation i geuss. But i much prefer the bush and the nightly visits from the koala's and possums, even if they do eat my vegie garden and prefer to mate outside my bedroom window Anyways, thanks again to you all
