Hi all,
My partner found this forum so i thought I'd introduce our flock.
We are from Melbourne Vic. We have 5 cockatiels(Chicken, Cat, Storm, Baby and Boy). Chicken was our first pet bird.
How she became chicken.. My partners theory is: Chickens are birds therefore all birds must be chickens.
1 galah (Jasper). We adopted jasper from a lovely couple who were no longer able to care for him due to health reasons (breeders lung)
1 Rainbow Lori ( Courtney). Courtney is named after the lead singer from HOLE, Courtney Love. Like most Lorie's she likes to try and put her tongue into any hole she can find. Usually one of the cockatiels nostrils.
1 Quaker (Crush) Is named after the turtle in finding nemo. Talks his head off. He is blind in one eye due to head trauma when he was young. The shop only clipped one wing and he would helicopter into the floor if he managed to jump . He can fly fine now just so long as the area is well lit.
1 Kakariki (Grub). Named due to the amount of mess he can make as soon as his food is placed in his cage
All of our flock is tame and all but the Lori are able to fly(clipped). The galah and the lori are best of Friends and are almost inseparable. 4 of the flock are talkers but generally only when they think nobody is around to hear. Crush is the exception and well almost literally never shuts up even when eating.
Anyway like most of you i could talk about my FIDS for hours on end so i better stop now before i start imitating crush.
This is a picture of Rhubarb. He/She was wild cought (found out couple months after we bought the bird. We do not support the capture and sale of wild birds. There is more than enough supply from breeders). Unfortunately Rhubarb had Beak and Feather and we had to give him up to a sanctuary in Gelong as we couldnt put the rest of ourbirds at risk. He/She was very freindly (after3 months of taming) and would have made a great compainion. It was a hard decition to give him up
