Hello everyone. I stumbled across this website this morning, it's really good to see an Aussie parrot forum that people still use. I've been looking for something like this for awhile now. Now down to the important information - parrots !! I currently own two Indian Ringnecks, Charlie, a Green cock (got an amazing story about him) and a Grey hen. They have four three week old chicks at the moment. Two if which I'm handraising as of today. Three stunning Alexandrines, Alex, Oscar and Pablo. Alex and Oscar have been a pair now for about four years and Alex is sitting on three eggs. Can't wait till I can h/r one of them !! Pablo is a handsome three year old from the above pair. He had to be hatched by a pair of Ringnecks (long story) and I then h/r him from four weeks old. Talks far too much !!! I've not been able to h/r or breed now for three years so it is quite an exciting time now. My Ringneck babies took to the spoon straight away tonight, on their first feed. Sadly I can't keep any I'm h/r now but still the enjoyment of being able to do it is good enough for me I'd love more than anything to talk parrots. I don't get a chance to do it often enough.

welcome and another alexandrine lover. I just got my little "stud muffin" yesterday and I am finishing handraising him. He is just a treasure. His dna came in this morning and he is "all male".............so woohoo I finally got my boy. there is a story behind this............the "older members" know the story. In a nutshell. I bought a male alex but had to give him back due to him having scissor beak (after two vet consultations). I was given another replacement for me to finish feeding................a suspect male..................but alas a female with big attitude (Rani). My son gave me his female alex back that I bought for him as a house warming pressie, but I told him I wanted her if she had to be rehomed. She is just the sweetest bird. I rehomed Rani when I realised shrekie (sons female alex) was fitting in well and she had a lovely nature. Then I finally got my little man yesterday and I am just so happy I could cry. LOL I also own a canary (Songa) and a female eclectus. oops got carried away again Welcome come on now Jules too many of us own alex's now................you know you want one. LOL

I didn't think Alex's were so popular. I remember when I first got my female about seven years ago, there weren't many around and they had a good price tag. My pair, Alex (bad name i know !!) and Oscar, I had bought both just as aviary birds but now they both adore me and visa versa. Can't wait to see them tomorrow and see if the eggs have started to hatch. Very exciting. I'll share my amazing story about my green Ringneck Charlie. I got him about eight years ago and hand tamed him myself. Then about two years ago I accidently left the door open to the aviary and Charlie and his lutino hen got out. They were both long gone, I felt horrible that I had done such a stupid mistake. We tried to get him back but never did. I just hoped he was out there happy and not injured. Well fast forward seven months and there was a found ad for a green Ringneck in Swan View, same suburb my parrots are kept. Mum went to have a look and brought this bird home, she didn't know if it was him or not but she's an animal lover and couldn't let it stay in a very tiny cage. I rushed over to my parents place and the split second I saw this green bird I knew it was Charlie. I felt so overwhelmed I started crying. It was a pure miracle. I always wonder what he got upto over those seven months ...

Yeah he sure did !! Wasn't scared of me at all and still remembered the trick I'd taught him. Which is me holding a sunflower in my fingers and him flying on to my hand to get it. You could see the look in his face that he knew he was home.
