Hi I am from Western Australia. We have two canarys and have just purchased a pair of plum headed finches. Our finches are currently housed in my parents aviary until ours in finished as our canary cage is too small for any more birds.
I have been told I need to get a license for the finches is this correct? (my parents have one so they are ok for now either way.) My parents have a variety of finches, robins, wrens, and turqs.

Hi and welcome Cyra. I just googled the Plum head Finch and they are gorgeous. Yes you do need a Avicultural Licence for them. All you have to do is go to CALM and fill in a application for the licence, the fee is only $10 a year. Good luck and cannot wait for pictures.

I went and checked on them today, they are settling in nicely at there temporary home. I was also informed that I will be inheriting my parents pink and grey galah, Jack. He is approx 2yrs old so there is a very good chance he will out live my parents.
