Hi John and Simon, I agree with you about budgies, always kept them (aussie budgies, I shall keep my thoughts on english budgies to myself ) just bought some new stock myself, nice big birds too. Simon, Iv'e had a few houdini's in the past, found the best fix is a small dog lead clip, those spring loaded ones, even the most determined bird can't undo those. Peachies vary a lot in temprement, I'm amazed your nasty one hasn't tried to hurt the placid one. Had a hen once that tried to tear the leg off a Galah! John, I'm astounded that one little question on budgies has turned into nearly 3 pages of discussion and stories!!! Cheers....Tony

tony,
the placid one was a few months older and could if necessary put up a defense. it just didnt go out of its way like the other one did.
it died one cold winter which left the other one alone. that one now has an aviary. not sure what it shares with. i gave it away when i was moving states. long story there.
i gave the cage a going over with a keyring in the end. worked well.
