Hi all, One of my little lutinos seems to have a bleeding cree. I first noticed this the other day when I had it in my hand to give it some extra water on that really hot day we had . Both lutinos had come out with the heat & were just lying on the bottom of the cage so I bought them inside. When this one gave a loud cheep its right cree started to bleed. I put them back out when it cooled down and again a loud squark and the bleeding started again. Its not a lot, just a drop and a dribble, but I've never seen this b4. Anyone with any ideas?

Hi Sue,
Have you had a good look inside the cere to see if the could be some thing stuck in there...The blood could be from some thing inside digging in to the noise area..use a torch to see. This will allow you to see deep inside.
Hope this helps..
Natalie.

That was my thoughts too Frank the squark was probably a sneeze which set off the nose bleed.

just an update on this little guy, I went to check the birds today and found this one dead on the floor. It was feeding, seemed to be doing ok, no real sign of anything. Maybe a nature knows best thing what did make me cranky though was the tiny itsy babe that hatched yesterday arvo, dead on the cage floor, along with the rest of the eggs,...grrrrrrrr!!! I had a feeling I should pull it, but I have never raised from that young b4, and thought it wa better off with the parents hmmmmp I'll go with my intuision next time

Hi Sue, I am really sorry to hear of your lost. Breeding budgies can be visous little buggers. I use to keep a big avairy full of them but at breeding time I just couldn't handle looking in a nest boxes & seeing babies literally torn to death because some other female wanted that nest box. I only have about 6 pairs which I have tied to breed in breeding cabinets, but I haven't been as successsful as breeding in the avairy. If it wasn't for all the pretty colours I get I probably wouldn't keep them. Anyway I hope that you get some more budgies & I have h/reared from 2 weeks old & it is a lot different from h/rearing tiels I can tell you. Cheers for now Anna
