Does your bird have a sore on the foot....can he/she clump the toes.Is there any redness.Have you felt the birds leg to see if it could be broken...Has your bird got any lumps on the leg...I think we need a bit more in formation to know what mite be wrong here as well...Did you bird full at all...Have a good look at the leg, even up around the hip area as well......

Hi Fairyfloss, Welcome to the Forum First, is the Budgie quiet and easily handled, and if she is, when you put your finger against the ball of her sore foot, can she grip your finger? If she can grip on to your finger well, I would say its just a strain of her leg muscles, if she can't, it could be more serious and need the attention of an Avian Vet. Test her reflex in the leg and let us know. Cheers Tony

Yes good advice Tony the first thig to do is check if the bird can grip with the foot, it could be nothing serious and it may just heal in time. However if it can't use the foot in a gripping action then you may have a more serious problem.
