What sort of bird is it echucabirdies, a budgie? And to be honest with you egg and biscuit with some apple and warm water isn't my idea of a good hand raising mix. If it is a budgie and it is 4 weeks old it wouldn't be eating seed full time yet and would need to have a top up feed from the parents.

i dont think its great either that the pet shop is selling birds that young surely theres a law against this at least its gone to someone who is trying to do the best for the baby but what if it went to someone who didnt know what they were doing its scary huh?

If it's eating seed all the time then it's older than 4 weeks and if they are feeding themselves they wont need a top up feed. You can purchase a commercial hand raising mix from your bird supply place or your pet shop.

I had a check up with the vet yesterday and i wanted to know hes rought age est . and he said 4 to 5 weeks . if it is between 4 and 5 weeks then i think it is best to keep an eye on its weight if that is possible as at that age i believe it would need a top up feed what did the vet tell you about the bird health and the big question is is the vet an avacultral vet as it has been my experience that a normal vet could not be able to give you a correct response to the age also there is a law in place pretty much all over OZ that states that a bird is not to be sold by anybody this includes pet shops and breeders that has not been weaned regards bill

In Queensland it is controlled by the Enviromental Protection Agency or EPA, you could do a search for that in your state
