I give up, this is the second time the same bird has laid eggs and then thrown them out of the cage. Is this common? Should I separate the pair from all the other birds? Perhaps I should give up on this pair and concentrate on another pair instead. When I bought this pair I was told they were a proven breeding couple but it looks like I was lied to (or why would they have sold them in the first place ME THINKS!!!!)
Let me know your thoughts please.

Hi Squitzy it is very frustating when breeding goes wrong I would seperate the pair and swap them with other mates then you will find the culprit or maybe things will get better as sometimes a change of partner/enviroment can stop bad traits! Oh and by the way my tip is always buy young birds and raise them to breeders yourself coz most of the time a purchase of a breeding pair is usually a purchase of someone elses problem birds! cheers Frank

I would definately seperate, as the nest may be being invaded by another bird. If it happens when they are on their own, then forget this pair and try another

You are right Frank. The Bourke Parrots I am having trouble with were supposed to be a "breeding pair". So far in the 2 breeding seasons I have had them no luck.

She has thrown yet another egg this morning (and it is her that is throwing them, not another bird). I've separated them completely from the other birds and have put a box in, we'll see if it's the other birds freaking her out but I don't think so. There is another bird in the other cage who is constantly in a box but does not have a partner, would it be wise to put the eggs in with her and see if she hatches them??? If not should I remove the box from this pair or should I split them up (ie, will she continue to lay eggs regardless of whether a box is there or not)
