Our pet budgie Kiki is not yet 2 yrs old. Recently she acted strangely and this week it happened: she laid one egg in hi fi speaker and the other one on the bottom of her cage last night. I was a bit upset, she is alone and I don't know what is the best thing for her. Apparently she will have eggs in the future again. I moved all eggs and knowing budgies can have 4-5 it means she will have more this week. I tried last year to introduce her to budgie male which I bought but, she didn't like him. Kept chasing him, it was mad house. Any new bird would be younger than her, does it matter? Please, do you have any idea what would be the best thing for her I can provide? This is nature call and I understand it but, as I said, I was upset and sad knowing that there wouldn't bee little chickens and she will not have the chance to be mother.

Hi Milly the last thing i would be doing is removing the eggs! I would locate all of them as she lays and place them in the bottom of her cage with a little container and some nesting material to make it comfy for her and hopefully she will go thru her normal maternal cycle incubating infertile eggs which might at least stop her from laying continuosly! i wouldn't be introducing a new bird just yet as she will probably try and chase them away to protect her nest! godluck Frank

Another thing that you cold do is put her in a cage next, and put the male in another cage next to her and let them spend time together with bars between them, eventually they should get used to each others company and then later on you might even be able to get chicks out of them!
