Those babies look really healthy and strong, dcockatiel. That's great. I had Jap quails and the hen sat and sat on eggs, only for them to have to bo thrown out. Until one day, one little baby hatched. Then next morning, I went out and it was dead. I think the father killed it. Is there anything you have to do for them to keep them safe and healthy? I know that pebbles in the water stops them drowning, but that's about it. I'd like to get more and try again, but I'm a bit worried I might not know enough to do the best for them.

I don't do anything special for them... or know how I got her to sit on eggs. One day I put a bird box in the corner of the aviary with some grass... came out the next day and she had built a nest next to it and laid her eggs in the nest. When the babies get older mum, dad and the babies all hide and sleep in the box. I have a flat dish on the ground, with a little bit of water in it so the babies don't drown. Oh and lots of food too! I feed the budgie and finch seed, oats that are growing and corn! They love it! ;D Sorry I couldn't be much more help.

I've got a quail sitting on her first clutch of eggs at the moment. I usually put them in a smaller cage as they get out of my aviary. Its amazing how small they are. In the past I've had problems with fathers, so I usually separate them from him. They love their fruit & vegies so I give them lots of that. Also they love egg & biscuit which I give them when they are small. I also make sure there is cuttle bone for the mother.
