hi there everyone,
for the first time in 5 years of breeding budgies, I believe I have a baby with spayed legs. he is in the nest with one other baby and he looks healthy enough but his legs are sort of sticking out the the sides. Im not 100% if they are spayed or not because I have never seen it before, but from what I have read I believe thats what the problem is. Should I do something to help him or will it sort itself out? The baby is around 2 1/2 weeks old. should i maybe pull him to handraise or will he do ok with mum and dad in the aviary? mum is still feeding him well and he doesnt look at all distressed. any advise at all would be super! PS..he can grip with both of his feet as he grabbed my finger when i picked him up earlier

that was me that had the baby with splayed legs (a few months back)
he sadly died but I don't think that was my doing, he was just weak from the start. Good luck, I really hope your little baby makes it,
be warned they look very silly when you do the sponge thing but it's all for a good cause

my little boy with the spayed legs was one of the few that I managed to save after whatever it was destroyed my aviary (as I wrote in swark talk). He is doing imprssivly well. He looks totally weird sitting on the sponge but i think its working. he is getting really strong and is eating well. He has turned out to be a pretty little thing too. he is blue and yellow with cinamon wings. I will post a pic when i get the camera working properly again
