Wow !!!!! Have I got my work cut out for me now with babies everywhere.
I have a pair of Blue Lacewing Budgies rearing 5 babies did have 6 but he was just too tiny and was fighting for feed and also the heat got to them.
This is mum and dad's first clutch so to have 6 live babies and feed 5 is really great.
I have a breeding aviary with 4 prs ( this is for people that only want for pets) that have babies in them.
One has 2 with 3 eggs, ! has fledged today from another box, and the other has 2 babies with two more eggs.
I am setting another of purple ones cock bird is on loan but I am keeping him here and we are splitting the offspring maybe, if I remember ;D ;D
Have just taken my Lutino & Albino cock from there breeding cage as she was a prolific breeder this year. She was laying eggs before the others had fledged and i was too late to pull them or didn't have foster mums ready, she actually gave me 4 clutches in a row something I hate and she reared the lot 16 babies. Needless to say they are not very happy with me. Of their babies I only have 2 left as they sold very quickly.
I really don't want anymore to go down as the weather is getting too hot here and it puts a lot of stress on the mum as they have a tendency to forget to feed they are such good mums.

congrats of your success with the budgies avril. I have had a really good year this time around with my budgies aswell. I am just waiting for the last few babies to fledge and then I am taking out all of the nesting boxes for the summer. Its not fair to let them keep breeding right through the heat in my opinion. I give my birds a break from about this time of the year until about the end of Feburary (or when it starts to cool off a little bit again) I hope you keep having heaps of luck with your birds

I'm only 88k from Melbourne but we are always about 3 to 4 degrees above what it is forecast down there., but must admit I really enjoy the hot weather can't stand the winter, so I'd be no good in the snow. I always say I'd be a fantastic bear cos I could really hibernate when it's cold.

LOL Avril. I would not like to live in the cold areas ............ I do prefer the heat, but enjoy the change in the cold as it doesn't normally last long here ....... although this year I wore a jumper to work for about 2 months and had 3 jumpers on one day as it was freezing. LOL
It does get cold up here for a day or two. ;D

Aaaah I prefer the cooler weather, I get more work done (can't say it gets very cold in Brissy) but when it hot and humid you can't get any outside yard/bird work done

Jane that is when I'm more productive as everything is loose. I suffer from arthritis in the spine so the hotter the better for me.

One of my new mothers has reared 7 babies, - all surviving surprisingly. I have never had a large clutch like this before, usually some die. They are all up and ready to be sold in a couple of weeks.
