hey guys I came accross a page on black faced budgies while I was surfing around the net. I was just curious to know if anyone had ever actually seen one of these birds or had even heard of them b4?? I have to admit that it suprized me to find it, I had never even heard of them b4. I had heard of a suposed "black" budgie but never a black face here is the link to the page I found.... didiermervilde.bestofbreeds.net/didier/blackface.htmas much as I love my budgies...I think these ones are a bit ugly

well they look different and I don't mind the look of a couple of them....sort of makes them look like babies.

A couple look to be heavilly spotted in the mask giving them that black look in my opinion. Andrew

I have heard of them before. They are extremely recessive and no one has been successful in establishing the mutation. It's a pity because it would be interested to see one on the bench. There is another mutation out now called the Anthracite: CLICK

There is information on in in the "a guide to bird mutations and genetics". I believe its has to do with a malanistic gene or something. Quite rare, but is established to some extent.
