Gday! just wondering if anyone has any training tips etc that i can start doing with my extremely tame 5 week old baby cockatiel.. as ive read that now is the time to implement training etc etc...im currently doing the step up command and he/she is slowwly learning ;D.... so any ideas would be greatly appreciated.... emz ;D

i think it goes down to what you would like him/her to do but the biggest thing to remember is the repartition and rewards are the key to teaching them hope this helps regards bill

Hi Emz The best thing you can ever teach your pet bird is the step up command. Very useful for those moments you need to move your bird. I don't like disturbing our birds when they're sleeping, they get cranky (so do I if I'm woken up, lol) Patience, lots of patience Lots of loving, of course Praise praise and more praise. When your tiel does what you want use lots of praise and get excited, birds thrive on the drama in our voices and actions, which is precisely why they learn to bite for that bit of attention they get when we carry on, lol.
