Hi Nathan, if you look under the sub section Training Weeros there are some useful tips on training adult tiels. As to training speckles to talk, I start with just 2 words to start with like hello speckles & just keep repeating these 2 words in a normal voice every time you walk pass the cage, or I have heard great reports with people using a recorder & playing it over & over. When he has mastered these 2 words then go on to something new, but keep it simple to start with. Tiels are great whistlers & I have found once they have mastered whistling it doesn't usually take them long to master talking. The most words I have have got one of my tiels to say is Bruce wants some tea, which is pretty good in my book. Once they learn to talk, you have to mind your P's & Q's as they will pick up these words. The key words are patience, consistency, & perseverance & & nice calm voice for training a adult Tiel. Not easy trying to tame an adult male, but if you have lots of TLC to give to it, it can be achieved. I have a female adult tiel that was given to me last year & with lots of patience, she is now coming up to me in the aviary & nibbling my finger & I can now stoke her on the belly & for the first time she jumped on my shoulder & started nibbling my ear ring. That has taken me nearly a year, but she now trusts me, which is what it is all about, gaining the birds trust. Hope this helps. Cheers Anna
