Hope of use. Clicker Training is not every one cup of tea. Many Companion Parrot People clearly are clearly very fond of Clicker Training. Also the birds enjoy it too. But not all Companion Parrot People are fond of it.Here is why?Not meant to be polemical. nd.edu/~kkiessel/clicker.html from Robert and Angel

Hello i had a quick...........always a "quick" read (LOL) and I agree with some of what was said. I have clicker trained skye my eclectus and it worked amazingly well and quick. I trained my galah to do some simple tricks and it took me a lot longer to teach her those tricks, but I did get the same results. I agree that to use a clicker for retraining some bad habits or behaviours can take a long time and I also choose not to use a clicker for those things. I have only been using a clicker for about 1 year and have trained and tamed many birds for 30 years before that quite successfully with my own methods. I enjoy having a good relationship with my birds and try to bond with them therefore gaining their trust and then being able to work with them. But when it comes to teaching tricks.................I will be clicker training from now on because I can see how quickly results happen. If done properly the bird does learn what you want and ok maybe does not understand "why" but will try to do many things to please you (to get the reward) until it does what you want and you "click" and the bird gets the "reward'. They enjoy doing it if for no other reason but the interaction with us and the reward. My galah did not want food as a reward either.............she would toss the food and push her head under my fingers.........so her reward was a scratch and she would do almost anything for that. Whereas my ekkie does not want me to "touch the merchandise" (very oftne anyway) but would rather the food.
