Hi! is anyone keeping any of the larger birds? Cockies, macaws, any thing big? Would love to exchange ideas etc with others. There seems to be quite a bit of a shift from the larger birds to the mid sized and smaller ones....not that there is anything wrong with that!!! ;D Will try to get some pics of my babies this weekend and post them. Soooo cute! Cheers, Sal

Glad to hear other have 'toos'. They are so funny and sweet(mostly). I am always laughing at mine and they all have VERY distinct personalities. I would love to have blacks too....perhaps if i can convince my hubby to build me a new avairy!! I am experiencing technical trouble with the camera....the battery died. Will be happy snapping soon i hope....looks like one of my pairs are going to nest soon.....keeping everything crossed! ;D Cheers, Sal

Eckies are beautiful. Thankfully my birds don't 'talk' or god only knows what they might come out with!!! Prob. me yelling at the dogs to go away from the birds(they screem when they see them but only when i am around : . They are funny when you copy what they say...they look at you very strangely. I am sure some times they are not saying nice things about me especially when i repeate it and they get all cranky with me! I am trying to learn what all their little 'phrases' mean. I have a general idea what a few mean but only the easy to tell ones. I heard the hen making some interesting noises from in the nest the other day and the cock(who was asleep) all of a sudden woke up and made some very strange noises back........hoping this was some romantic talk between them!!! Do you house your birds inside or outside? Cheers, Sal

Being a bird on it's own for so long could be a problem..As well have having your guys together for so long..You would have to introduce them slowy..Beening that time of year as well will not help...
If you can house then side by side for a while..And don't let your guys see you pay attention to a new one..
You will have to play it by ears with this...Give it another month till you try any thing..

Thanks, I am not sure, I will even take it yet . I think my two are a male and a female they were given to us last year. one has red eyes the other has dark eyes. Their last owners said that the dark eyed one was about 8 and the red eyed one was about 4 and that they had had them since they were babies. Now the other one I was thinking of is about," Rocky " was given to this lady about 12 years ago and she was told that hs was not young then. But now she has to move to town, I think Rocky has dark eyes. I was told that the eye colour was how you sexed them. Therese
