Hi Has anyone any experience with young, (not sure how young, but apparently waerned) corella? An american list I belong to has a person asking about a young corella they have. From her email add she is in Australia somewhere. as this is an American list she is writing to some of the advice isnt all that relevant, take the bird back to the breeder, put it on pellets ect. I would really like to help this girl, as she really seems to be trying very hard, but from her questions this hast to be her first bird. she is worried that the baby "crys" all the time, isnt really feeding its self & what is the best diet for her bird. The shop she has bought the bird from has told her to" just leave to bird alone in a room & it will stop crying" , oh you have to wonder sometimes any help would be great, I've asked her to email me direct, so I can try & be of a bit more direct help . In the meantime, any corella wearning, diet, specific advice is really needed, as I would really like to help her and her bird thanks sue

I have a long billed corella which I have had for a long time and when I first got it it used to cry all the time. The breeder I got it off said it was because it wanted attention. So to put it in a room on it's own would not be good I don't think if it is to be a pet it needs lots of attention. As for food the seller should be able to tell the owner what it was fed on but if not I think soaked seed would be a good start as well as some hand raising mix or even baby food. Hope this helps a bit.

This can happen a lot...A bird will leave home..and they just stop eatting....I always wait one week after weaning, before they go to new homes...The bird is crying for he /she is hungry...Like ollie said...If this bird was hand rasied...He/she should take food off a spoon for you...If you dont have any h/r food...try weet bix..rolled oats for now...And where are the feeders placed..can the bird access them...and with new birds even for the avairy I always put food on the floor as well...They can see it better..Till they get used to there homes....
Hope this helps
