Well wanting a Galah for months and finally finding one, Ive now got another. Female this time, My father-in-law was on the look out for one and one of his mates had one, and he was moving so he was looking for a new home for her. She is so sweet and apparently a stray, No idea how old she is though. I introduced her to Banjo and he tried beating her up and following her around his cage, so I took her out and went and purchased a new cage. Ill take some pictures of her for you guys.
Rob (the Galah rescuer!) lol

Good to see you're obsessed and couldn't stop at one bird. Aren't they addictive? Your new girl looks gorgous I'm sure they get along well in no time.

lucky you...........two galahs now. Yes pretty soon you will need to go into the confessional to confess about your newly found addiction to birds................and how you can envision a big bird aviary and lots and lots of birds in it.............actually maybe 2 or 3 aviaries with ekkies in one, alexandrines in the other...................oh hang on that is my addictive dream not yours................

Definetly ekkies in atleast one aviary... lol Any idea on how too see how old she is? She is an absolute sweetheart loves me to death and lets any male touch her.. as soon as the wife touches her, whack one biten female.. I put her in with Banjo before I realized he had worms and he bossed her around a bit, after I worm both of them ill put her back in with him, They should get used to each other..

Well she is defiently an adult.................apart from that I have no idea how to age them unless she is banded?? Babies and young galahs have quite a bit of grey feathers through their pink feathers.................and she has none.

Yep, I think I'm becoming a full blown addict... lol.. Any ideas on how to get them not to want to fight all the time? Banjo follows her and she runs away, I caught her scratching his head for him, then she started ripping at his feathers.. LOL and then he got angry and went her, at the moment I have them both in his cage (which I hope is big enough?? its in the pics) and I have them covered up.. All I can hear is eating, so more than likely Banjo is eating and she is in a corner scared... lol even though shes the one starting the fights..

Sounds like they are sorting out the pecking order Rob hopefully they will sort it all out before they do any damage to each other.

Just my opinion............but I would have them in separate cages for a few weeks, side by side, so they can get used to each other without being able to damage each other. Let them out for play times together and watch them............when it appears they get on ok................then i would put them in the same cage. That is just my opinion though.

Well, 2nd night tonight in the same cage, they don't argue as much no more, but Banjo still doesn't like her eating from his food bowl.. considering there are two in the cage anyway... LOL but they seem to be okay, I think he follows her around because he wants attention from her. She is a real b*tch to my wife though, absolutely hates her, when she walks passed her cage, daisy trys to snap at her and bite her.. LOL she loves the males though!

Get your wife to spend a bit of time beside the cage, just talking quietly or even get a book and just read to the birds. Pat the male and let the female bird see that he likes the female human company. she might come around slowly this way. Get your wife to offer her treats for any slight showing of attention from the bird to your wife..........positive attention too not lunging or biting behaviour. Don't get offended (I know it is very hard but maybe Daisy has been badly treated in the past or maybe she has not dealt with women before. My female galah loved men too, but she did not have an aggressive bone in her body (until a few months before she died) and she would willingly go to a female human but given a choice would prefer to go to men.
maybe even playing with Banjo and giving him some attention (not going overboard though.......might cause her to become worse) and giving him some treats just to show Daisy that Bonjo thinks the female humans are not too bad.
